I came across this literal delight quite by chance and I've discovered, in my view, probably one of the best new writers in years. Within just a few short pages I was laughing out loud and completely hooked. The story is unlike anything and I really do mean anything in the crime genre. Its originality takes you through a rollercoaster of emotions as Lucy Penfold struggles with workplace equality, sexism and the brut Neanderthal behaviour from her fellow police officers. Through all this she discovers her own sexual preference which, I can vouch for, is a journey on its own. So wow wow and wow what a totally addictive debut novel. I cant wait for the rest of the trilogy.

lulu: The Thick Blue Line

The fictional character of Lucy Penfold starting her career as a WPC in the 70' and 80's it written in such a style that it makes you want to engage with Lucy to follow her path both professional and personal. I have finished this book and already purchased the 3 remaining books that follow Lucy. I am intrigued to find out what happens to her.

I spoke to Jayne for my Facebook book group and realised that I absolutely had to read her books. She was an incredibly interesting lady, and these, although fiction, are based on her real life experiences. Book one has made me wince, made me laugh out loud, given me goosebumps and made me stop and think about my own relationships.

I enjoyed reading the first two books of Horns and Halos. Jayne Gooding has woven the life of DI Star Bellamy threw many variations of good and evil. But Star stays true to her core values of enlightenment. I am not familiar with all the fashion references but all the other nuances were familiar to me.

Well, finally got your latest book, 'The Climb'. Thoroughly enjoyed & would recommend. It follows on from 'The Thick Blue Line' trilogy weaving Lucy's memories & experiences in 'the force' with new experiences on retiring to Fethiye, Turkey (my home xxx). Looking forward to a follow-up, hope there is one.... Loved it

The sequel to Jayne Gooding's 'The Thick Blue Line' trilogy takes Inspector Lucy Penfold to Fetiyhe, Turkey where she tries to put heartache behind her and make a new life. She faces further tough times and challenges but reminiscing about past events in her life in the police force helps her find renewed strength to fight the unexpected twist that is thrown at her. She makes new friends along the way who empathise with Lucy's spiritual side. A very good read which, as in the trilogy books, has the reader rooting for Lucy.
